Low-intensity tremors, which have continued to rock North Sikkim since a 6.8-magnitude earthquake devastated the region on September 18, killed two people in Dzongu on Saturday morning, delayed reports said. A 3.2 magnitude tremor killed an 85-year-old resident at Nung and a 27-year-old man hailing from Lingdem Basti. Police sources said the old man was trying to escape from his house, which shook violently when the temblor struck around 8.30 a.m. He suffered heart attack after he slipped down the stairs, according to medical reports. The other victim, Sonam Wangyal Lepcha, fell down from the Lingdem Bridge. Ex gratia Chief Minister Pawan Chamling on Sunday visited the affected area and distributed Rs.1 lakh each to the two bereaved families as ex gratia. — PTI
