Turkmenistan and Pakistan signed a memorandum of intention last week to build a line to transmit surplus Turkmen electricity through Afghanistan, an energy and industry ministry spokesman told Reuters on Tuesday. The cost of the project to build a 1,150-kilometre (719-mile) line with an annual capacity of 1,000 megawatt-hours is estimated at $290 million.
