Uganda has finally started installing solar units for the long awaited solar rural electrification programme after two commercial banks agreed to guarantee loans for importers of equipment and extend credit to consumers. The two banks are Centenary Rural Development Bank, which will provide loans to importers and the Uganda Women Finance Trust, will give loans to consumers to purchase and install the solar systems.
