Belgium pork exported to the UK could contain traces of banned drugs used to tranquilise pigs on their way to the abbatoir. The chemicals could be placing UK consumers at risk, claims a division of the British Veterinary Association. The Pig Veterinary Society said it was 'deeply concerned' that consumer tests conducted in Belgium revealed that 67% of pork samples contained residues of tranquillisers including Acepromazine, a drug banned for use in livestock in the UK.
