UK energy tax seen stifling cleaner power generation

Britain needs to exempt a new generation of smaller, cleaner power plants from a proposed new energy tax or risk not meeting targets on cutting greenhouse gas emissions, the Combined Heat and Power Association (CHPA) said yesterday. CHPA Assistant Director Graham Meeks told Reuters in an interview new CHP plant was less likely to be built because of the threat of the Climate Change Levy on commercial electricity use.
