Greenpeace welcomed the UK government's announcement that the operation of BNFL's new plutonium-MOX fuel manufacturing plant at Sellafield has not been justified and needs more public consultation. However, the international environmental organisation warned that the planned economic review alone is not enough. The Government should urgently address the nuclear proliferation consequences of producing weapons usable nuclear fuel and transporting around the world.
