U.S. oil firm Conoco sought on Tuesday to calm market jitters about supplies after an explosion ripped through its biggest European refinery, injuring two people and all but closing the plant down. News of the blast at the refinery in northern England helped boost NYMEX crude oil futures early in Monday's New York trading, pushing up May crude as high as $28.90 a barrel, up 65 cents on the day, traders said.
