The last working reactor at the ill-fated Chernobyl nuclear power plant will be closed down on December 15, Ukraine said, using a visit by President Bill Clinton to make the decision public. Until now, Ukraine had said the remaining functioning reactor of the four at Chernobyl would not be closed down until foreign funding was made available to finance plans for a replacement nuclear power generation project.
