UN begins $26 mln energy project in China

The United Nations said it has launched afive-year $25.83 million project in China to promote the use of renewable energy technologies. The UNDP has a $8.8 million stake in the project with China investing $11.5 million. Australia and the Netherlands have provided the rest of the funds, the U.N. said in a report. China relies on fossil fuels to produce energy and is one of the world's largest emmitters of the greenhouse gases which cause global warming, it said.
