The United Nations Children's Fund (Unicef) yesterday provided the Public Health Ministry with the AZT drug to help reduce perinatal transmission of HIV from mothers to newborn babies in seven northeastern provinces. Dr Prakrom Putthipong, the ministry's permanent secretary, has expressed grave concern over the rising number of HIV-infected babies.
