Claiming success in the implementation of a coal bed methane(CBM) recovery project in China that produced substantial climate change benefits through, the UNDP-GEF is all set to fund a $9.19-million project in India. The global environment funding body- UNDP-GEF - had, in April 1997, approved the Indian proposal and work is expected to begin shortly, according to UNDP sources. Two mine sites in the Jharia coal fields in Bihar were chosen on the basis of their history of methane emission for the project implementation.
