UP failed in containing poverty: World Bank

The World Bank has asked the Uttar Pradesh Government to speed up the reform programme to accelerate its efforts for reducing poverty as 60 million poor in the state are at the risk of becoming poorer. The World Bank report 'Poverty in India: Challenge of Uttar Pradesh', released in Lucknow today, claimed that it was a global challenge, for about eight per cent of the world's poor live in UP.
