Lucknow: The state government on Sunday said 152 persons have died in the floods so far. Most of the major rivers flowing through the state continue to be in spate, with at least eight districts receiving more than 25 mm rainfall in the past 24 hours. About 134 villages have been affected in Lakhimpur Kheri, 68 in Sitapur, while 66 and 53 villages have been affected by floods in Bahraich and Barabanki, respectively.

Though the government has pressed relief teams into service for conducting the rescue operations and to rehabilitate people, the situation remains grim in all the eight affected districts. The Met department has also predicted heavy rain in some parts of the state over the next few days.
