The big power demand-supply gap in UP, created by the neglect of the sector for many years, has turned into a bliss with the world gas majors vying to set up gas-based power facilities.The state government has signed three memorandums of understading with global gas majors Shell International, the West Asia-based oil and gas group Al Manhal and US company Unocal, to bring gas to the state.
