The Uttar Pradesh Government has admitted that the power situation in the State was quite bad and it was necessary to immediately initiate "fundamental reforms" in the power sector. These reforms are to consist of the separation of the generation, transmission and distribution agencies as individual profit centres on a sustainable basis.
