Does India still live in its villages? Increasingly, more and more of it does not. Many states, goes the saying, can no longer afford a romance with thr rural. Nearly a third of India already lives in its towns and cities.In the next two decades, this figure will shoot up to 500 million, said K C Sivaramakrishnan, a former bureaucrat now with the Centre for Policy Research.
