US energy chief scathing over nuclear contract

British Nuclear Fuels ran into new trouble when Bill Richardson, US energy secretary, said he would review the company's largest contract in America following "unacceptable" price increases. BNFL submitted a $15bn proposal to clean up nuclear waste at the Hanford nuclear reservation in Washington State after saying 18 months ago it was confident it could complete the contract for $7bn.
