Us farmers are turning to an old idea--making diesel fuel from crops instead of petroleum -to rev up their income. Bio-diesel goes back to Rudolf Diesel's first engine in 1895, which burned peanut oil. Now, farmers think bio-diesel could prop up collapsed soyabean prices, and they are pushing Congress and State legisslatures this year to require or subsidize use of bio-diesel as a fuel additive.
