Recognising India as one of the fastest-growing oil-consuming nations, the US has underscored the need for close cooperation with New Delhi in oil and gas production. The recently-announced national energy policy of the US has recommended that "the President direct the Secretaries of State and Energy to work with India's Ministry of Petroleum and Natural gas to help India maximise its domestic oil and gas production."
