Over 200 stakeholders from diverse fields came together here on the occasion of Van Mahotsav to support the cause of restoring the Aravalis. The initiative was undertaken by Navjyoti India foundation that has been working to enable self-reliance amongst the marginalized sections of society. All stakeholders agreed to form a consortium for the cause under the name of 'Harit Aravali Project' in the district of Gurgaon. Kiran Bedi, founder member, Navjyoti India foundation, said that all village heads should hold mahapanchayats and plant trees. It needs to become a movement to be successful, she said. A panel discussion was held in which experts shared their views on the eco-restoration of the Aravalis, which was followed by a tree-plantation drive by WWF India.
