A number of industrialists from various parts of the country have shown interest in establishing units in Uttaranchal and the Government is preparing an ambitious ' vision plan' to promote industrial development till the year 2020. Disclosing this at the first state level meeting of Udyog Mitra, the Chief Minister, Narain Dutt Tiwari, said Uttaranchal would soon receive a package from the Centre that would include a cut in central excise and other taxes for non-polluting industries for the next ten years. This package will go a long way in establishing a sound network of small, medium and heavy industries that will tend to change the economic profile of the state.
