The major disruption of water supply in Gangtok and adjoining areas in Sikkim which entered the tenth day today, has seen little respite despite the intermittent supply provided by the public health engineering department. On the night of June 7-8, heavy rains and landslides cut off the pipelines from Tamjey, the source of water to Gangtok. Principal chief engineer cum secretary of PHE department while speaking to this correspondent said that restoration of water supply and the pipeline at source are underway, despite the inclement weather.
