The Union Government has released Rs 9,352.50 lakh to the State Government for Centrally-sponsored Accelerated Rural Water Supply programme (ARWSP) for 2001-2002. This is the first installment of the provisional allocation of Rs 187.5 crore under Rajiv Gandhi National Drinking Water Mission to the State. These funds are meant to provide safe drinking water to rural habitations and schools, according to the guidelines of ARWSP.
