West Bengal may face power shortage by 2009

West Bengal, which is currently a power-surplus state, is likely to face an alarming shortfall in both, peak supply and total energy, at the end of the 10th Plan period, unless immediate remedial measures are taken. This is the most important finding of the report on the power perspective of West Bengal, up to 2011-12 (end of the 11th plan), drawn up by a committee set up by the state power department.
