A White House report warned the next century could be littered with drastic environmental and political risks if the United States does not invest billions of dollars in clean energy technology. The report by the President's Committee of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST) called for greater public and private investment, and nurturing of international alliances for developing advanced fossil fuels and renewables, like solar, wind and biomass.
