Cogentrix is not the first case of an US power developer that has run into serious problems in India. In fact the most celebrated case is that of Enron, whose Dabhol power project faced similar accusations of wrong doing. Yet Enron was able to surmount all the problems and its 695 MW power generating station in coastal Maharashtra is already operational.
