Sagar Islands in South 24 Parganas (West Bengal) will have its electricity generated by wind energy. The Wind Diesel Hybrid System will be the first project in India to provide people this cheaper alternative to conventional power sources. It is being implemented by India-Canada Environment Facility in collaboration with West Bengal Renewable Energy Development Agency.
