Silhouetted against the red setting sun of the barren Ramagiri hills, a set of giant windmills drone. Blades rotating leisurely a top 30-metre steel towers--over 200 of them--reaching for energy from blowing winds. They offer a promise for the future. Windmills, adored by the Dutch of the yore and demonised by the legendary warrior Don Quixote, mean clean electricity. After the mid-1990s boom and the late 1990s slowdown, wind electric scenario in India is stabilising. And new players such as Karnataka are entering the field.
