BHUBANESWAR: Though the gender gap in literacy levels has been declining faster over the years, there are wide gaps in literacy levels across social groups and districts in the State.
According to the Economic Survey-2009-10, the Scheduled Tribe communities are the least literate with literacy rates for STs and SCs at 37.37 per cent and 55.53 pc respectively. The literacy rate varied from 30.5 pc in Malkangiri district to 79.6 pc in Khurda.
