World energy consumption is expected to increase 59 percent from 1999 to 2020, according to the "International Energy Outlook 2001."More than half of the world's growth in energy demand is expected to be in developing countries--particularly in developing Asia and Central and South America, according to the report, released this month by the Energy Information Administration (EIA), an agency of the U.S. Department of Energy.
