More than 150 experts from Tiger-range countries and environment ministers from the uk , Bangladesh and Bhutan discussed ways to save the tiger from extinction at a three-day tiger Millennium Conference which was held from March 3 to 5 in New Delhi. The conference was organised by the Union ministry of environment and forests. On this occasion, Britain and Bangladesh announced their decision to join the Global Tiger Forum. With this, the forum has become functional as it requires at least five countries to ratify the forum. The countries that are already part of this forum are India, Nepal, Vietnam, and Bhutan. Speaking on the occasion, Vice-President of India Krishan Kant, expressed concern over the dwindling population of tigers. He called for restructuring some of the mechanisms in order to provide a healthy environment for the tiger.
