Contaminated water
consignments of mineral water bottled for the Coca-Cola company in Poland were found to contain small amounts of mold. As a precautionary measure, the company is withdrawing the contaminated 0.33 litre Bonqa brand bottles. However, it said that tests showed that there was no threat of food poisoning.
Officials from the provincial Sanepid laboratory claim that the mold and bacteria were non-hazardous. The findings were similar to the test results earlier announced by Coca-Cola and a Dutch laboratory. However, the Polish health authorities warned that the tests showed fungi of the penicillin group and was "active and could be dangerous'
The mineral water which is sold under the name Bonaqua in other countries is marketed as Bonaqa in Poland.
