VOICING CONCERN

http://www.videoactivism.org
The advent of digital integration with audio visual and web application has empowered civil society to intervene in public domain. And low-cost, accessible video is now an active tool for activists who are unfolding the unedited truth.

More and more concerned citizens, all over the world, are making their own videos and by-passing the corporate-owned press with their own stories and their unique visions of a better world. Video activism is flourishing as never before. It has become a big feature of the growing world of independent media.

This website is managed by Video Activist Network (VAN), an informal association of activists. It is all about the increasing brand of people taking up this independent medium to reflect the state of the world.

The site uses video to support social, economic and environmental justice campaigns. It helps to document what occurs at actions, for legal follow-up purposes and doesn't water down or alter the message of the people. The site has still images captured from video, downloadable audio and streaming video files. Apart from a number of interesting reports, the hallmark of this site is the video activist handbook which tells the interested lot how to deal with TV newsdesks, how to make a campaign video, how to edit it and put it on the web. Channels in the site include 'Watch videos', 'Resources and manuals', 'Bulletin boards' and 'Screenings'.
