The good news is ...

Treatment with an anti-depressant drug can help smokers give up the habit. People who smoke are more likely to have depression than non-smokers. Richard Hurt and his colleagues of Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, USA, conducted a study on 615 people. They found that an anti-depressant bubropion helped many of the volunteers stop smoking. Nearly 19 per cent smokers who were undergoing medication kicked the habit. The quit rate was 44 per cent for those who took 300 mg of bupropion per day.
