Grafting ziziphus

A new grafting technique for ziziphus (known as her} has been introduced by the Mithawan Watershed Management Project in Pakistan. Ziziphus is abundantly found in south Asia. Its products include fruit, fodder and also fuelwood. The main aim of introducing new grafting technique is to set up reproduction of ziziphus in areas where the growth has been reduced due to natural factors. Secondly, scientists are trying to obtain high-quality, large-sized leaves and fruits for marketing the output at a higher price. Experiments with grafting have shown a 60 per cent to 80 per cent success rate compared with budding of ziziphus.
