A MODEL OF COOPERATION

The government of the Netherlands has pledged to churn out the funds for producing solar energy in Bhutan. The deal is a part of the bilateral sustainable development agreement signed between the two countries in March 1994, which envisages cooperation in biodiversity, energy, culture and human resources. So far US $3.5 million have been made available annually for different projects. The purpose of the agreement is to create a new style of development cooperation, which can be used as a model by the international community.
