Deer park in Delhi
the Delhi government has decided to set up north India's largest deer park at Jehangirpuri Bhalaswa in east Delhi. Around 162 hectres of land has been earmarked for the park.
Local member of the legislative assembly ( mla ) Zile Singh Chauhan, who had earlier suggested that a barren stretch available around the area be converted into a deer park, mooted the proposal. Later, at a meeting with senior forest officials, Ashok Kumar Walia, Delhi's forest minister, cleared the proposal in the first week of August.
Walia said the deer park is being set up as one of the big tourist spots in the city. "A lot of forest lands are lying waste, so we planned that it would be better if a natural tourist spot was developed here. We hope that the entire park will be completed within two years and this entire stretch can be used by the people of Delhi,' Walia said.
