REPLY SOUGHT
The Supreme Court has asked the Union government to reply within three months about the action taken on the expert committee report on Tehri dam. The orders came while the Court was hearing three public interest petitions which argued that the construction of the dam could lead to earthquake in the region. According to the petitioners, though the expert committee had found the dam safe after conducting "maximum credible earthquake test', it had suggested further tests concerning 3-D non-linear analysis and simulated dam break exercise.
