Order of the National Green Tribunal (Central Zonal Bench, Bhopal) in the matter of Tribunal at its own motion v. Ministry of Environment and Others dated 13/02/2014 regarding mining leases in Mandla District. The NGT order noted that since the area in question has mineral deposits of low silica dolomite which is essential for the steel industry has already been highlighted and renewal applications of mining leases of 13 Respondents are pending as a result of the present petition. Mining is reportedly being done between two important National Parks namely Kanha National Park and Bandhavgarh National Park.
