Fazilka

Policy Action
Fazilka has implemented “Carfree City” concept in the main market area and installed traffic calming devices around the area. Also, Ecocabs cater to the transportation need of the residents.

  • In 2008, the city implemented the “Carfree City” concept. The main market area around the Ghanta Ghar (Clock Tower) has been declared a “Car Free Zone” and the entry of cars was banned between 10am and 7pm.

  • Traffic calming devices and permanent barriers has been installed in a few locations.

  • “Ecocabs” or dial-a-rickshaw service has been introduced.
