Response on behalf of state of Uttar Pradesh in compliance to the National Green Tribunal order dated February 28, 2023 in Original Application No 510/2022 Ramnaresh Vs State of Uttar Pradesh & Others.

The grievance in the application is regarding discharge of untreated sewage in Pamari drain in Firozabad district which is adding to pollution of river Yamuna. The joint committee visited the site and submitted the report. As per the report of Nagar Palika, Tundla, they have constructed permanent roof top slab over the Pamari drain and toilets has been constructed over it for which septic tank and soak pit has been provided.

During inspection by the committee it was noticed that the domestic sewage is discharged in Pamari drain, which travels around 12 kms and on the way sewage mixed waste water of the drain is used by local farmers for irrigation purpose.

The drain passes through village Chulawali, Nagla Teja, Nagla Gadhiya and Nagla Chhar. The drain ends near village Nagla Chhar. The drain water is temporarily stopped by local farmers. After that no waste water/sewage was flowing in the drain and the drain was found in dry condition. Hence at present there is no direct discharge in river Yamuna. Only during the rainy season it may meet river Yamuna. No other encroachment was found over the drain other than toilets during the inspection.

It was also submitted in the joint committee report that there is no direct discharge of water from the Pamari drain into the river Yamuna and that the same may only occur during the monsoon season if the water from the drain meets the river Yamuna on account of rains.
