Why Nimesulide hasn't been banned: Delhi HC to government of India, 01/09/2023
The bench of Justice Satish Chander Sharma and Justice Sanjeev Narula of the Delhi High Court, September 1, 2023 directed Union of India to furnish the reasons as to why the drug ‘Nimesulide’ has not been banned, and deliberations undertaken in this regard.
The matter has been listed for September 20, 2023. The applicant, Gaurav Kumar Bansal said that out of four non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAID) used in veterinary care, which are toxic to Vultures - three already stand banned (Acelofenac, Ketoprofen, Diclofenac) whereas the sole remaining drug, Nimesulide continues to be sold in the market.
