Order of the National Green Tribunal regarding encroachment in the eco-sensitive zone of Nahargarh wildlife sanctuary, Jaipur, Rajasthan, 26/09/2023
Order of the National Green Tribunal (Central Zone Bench, Bhopal) in the matter of Rajendra Tiwari Vs Union of India & Others dated 26/09/2023.
The National Green Tribunal (NGT). directed that no construction be undertaken in the eco-sensitive zone of Nahargarh wildlife sanctuary, Jaipur, Rajasthan in violation of Forest Act, 1980. Rajasthan State Pollution Control Board was directed to take remedial actions and calculate the environmental compensation according to the rules. The tribunal, September 26, 2023 also directed the SPCB to take into account the damage to trees while assessing environmental compensation.
A joint committee report stated that the Municipal Corporation, Jaipur had issued a tender for construction of certain activities, which is in violation of Wildlife Act, 1972 and Forest Act, 1980. No permission has been taken from the Forest Department.
