Order of the National Green Tribunal in the matter of Dr. Rajesh Bahuguna Vs State of Uttarakhand & Others dated 04/01/2024.

In the application, applicant has raised the plea that a Sal reserve forest spread over 20.9270 acres in Aamwala Tarla village, Dehradun, Uttarakhand within Ward No. 61 of the Municipal Corporation exists. The grievance of the applicant is that the private builders have constructed a road inside the forest and they are cutting the trees and trying to sell the land of the forest.

The NGT directed formation of a joint committee comprising of the Principal Chief Conservator of forest (PCCF), Uttarakhand, the head of the Regional Office of MoEF&CC, Dehradun and the District Magistrate, Dehradun. The joint committee will carry out the spot inspection, assess the ground situation on the spot, ascertain the truthfulness of the allegations made in the OA, examine the relevant record and ascertain the extent of damage if any caused by the private builders to the reserve forest and file a report before the tribunal atleast one week before the next date of hearing, March 1, 2024.
