Press Statement on bauxite mining by the Orissa Mining Corporation (OMC) through Vedanta
It is a press statement by Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Environment & Forests, Jairam Ramesh, on bauxite mining by the Orissa Mining Corporation (OMC) through Vedanta. MOEF had asked the Regional Chief Conservator of Forests, Bhubaneswar to investigate complaints that project activities have started even with out the final approval of the Central Government in violation of the Forest Conservation Act, 1980. The minister said that the reply of the state government is awaited.
