Power sector reforms: a pilot study on Karnataka
The State Planning Board, Karnataka, and the Institute of Social and Economic Change, Bangalore had arranged a two day seminar on 11th Five Year Plan of Karnataka: Perspectives, in Bangalore on 4-5 May 2007. The author was invited to make a presentation on Power Sector Reforms in Karnataka to take into account the possible steps during the 11th Plan period. Present article is based on the presentation made in the seminar. Though the article may appear to focus on Karnataka for the sake of statistical details, the issues discussed are generally relevant and applicable to most states in the country. The article has tried to focus on the sustainability, energy security and environmental protection. (This paper submitted on 23/03/2009)
