Following the directive from the Union Ministry of Power to the States to introduce star- labelling, on a five-star scale, in commercial buildings and flats, an Energy Credit Card and starrating system is to be introduced to monitor energy consumption of buildings and industries.

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: At a time when large parts of the country remain without electricity, Palakkad district in Kerala is all set to be declared the first fully electrified district in the country.
Palakkad in Kerala has become the first fully electrified district of the nation. The Union power minister, Mr Sushil Kumar Shinde, officially announced this on Tuesday in the presence of the state electricity minister, Mr A.K. Balan. The government had taken out a special package to electrify all the 11 Assembly constituencies in the district, including Malampuzha, which elected the CM, Mr V.S.
PALAKKAD: Palakkad district on Tuesday became the first fully electrified district in the country. Announcing this, Union Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde said that the government was working on a target of bringing electricity to all villages in the next two years.
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Forty -three towns in the state will benefit from a Rs 288-crore Central scheme meant to strengthen the power distribution sector and reduce technical and commercial losses by 15 percent.
