LUCKNOW: Anomalies in the sale of certified seeds in Uttar Pradesh are touching new lows. A survey of NREGS implementation in Kanpur Dehat, conducted by member, state quality monitor, Vinod Shankar Chaubey, has brought to light largescale irregularities in the distribution and sale of certified seeds to beneficiaries of NREGS.

Metro makes a turn towards posh Gomtinagar
LUCKNOW: The ambitious metro rail project is now proposed to be extended till Patrakarpuram in Gomtinagar as well. This the first time that the authorities have decided to bring the posh residential locality into the metro loop. Vulture census in state on cards
Lucknow: The forest department is planning to take up the census of vultures in state with an aim to offer the endangered natural scavengers the needed protection. The department, however, is not alone to have thought about the cause. A few conservationists would also join in the effort.

NER to run 3 DRM offices on solar power
LUCKNOW: In a major step towards energy conservation, the North Eastern Railway (NER) has decided to run its three offices of divisional railway managers (DRMs) on solar power. General manager UCD Shreni announced here on Wednesday that DRM offices of Lucknow, Izzatnagar and Varanasi would switch over to solar power from March 2011 onwards.
