Erosion havoc on at Majuli
KAMALABARI, Sept 1 – Erosion by the Brahmaputra continues unabated at Shalmara, Dakhinpat, Kumargaon, Chumoimari, Bengenati, Bhakat Chapari, Saraati, Moluwal and Dakhin Majuli. On the northern side of Majuli, erosion by the Kherkatiya suti, a stream of the Subansiri has endangered the existence of Jengraimukh, the hub of tribal culture in the upper part of the river island.

More Manipur farmers taking up pineapple farming
IMPHAL, Aug 31 – For farmers like J Hechuon, 62, of Bunglon village pineapple cultivation in his two hectare plot on the slopes of Khousabung hill range in Manipur’s Churachandpur district is his main occupation since the last five decades.

Premium milk variant to hit market on Sept 1
GUWAHATI, Aug 29 – Encouraged by overwhelming response from consumers on Toned Milk, Purabi Dairy of West Assam Milk Producers’ Cooperative Union (WAMUL) is launching a premium milk variant, i.e. cow milk with 3.5 per cent fat and 8.5 per cent solid not fat (SNF) from September 1, a press release said.
This new variant will be marketed in 500 ml sachets.
