Health budget raised by 32% to Rs 57.49bn

KARACHI: The Sindh government has raised the budgetary allocation for health sector by 32% for the next fiscal year, from Rs 43.48 billion 2014-15 to Rs 57.49 billion in 2015-16. According to availabe details grants for different hospitals and not for profit healthcare facilities has also been increased by 105% from Rs 6.46 billion in the current fiscal year to Rs 13.26 billion in the next fiscal year. This includes new grants of Rs 10 million for Kidney Centre, Rs 35 milion for LBRT, a chain of facilities for treatment of eye related ailments and prevention of blindness, and a one time grant of Rs 2.3 billion for liver transplant at SIUT Sukkur Complex. Grant for Peoples Primary Health Initiative (PPHI-Sindh) has also been increased by 19% from Rs 2.73 billion in current fiscal year to Rs 3.225 billion in 2015-2016.
